‘Cloud Computing‘ is in the media everywhere these days. What does is mean and how is it going to help your small business or home business?
WinWeb has been providing Cloud Computing for over ten years now and the benefits are as multifaceted as the technology itself. Here are the basic benefits how we at WinWeb see them:
There are many other names for this kind of online and on-demand technology, such as Software as a Service also known as SaaS technology, or Web 1.0 and Web 2.0, we still call our applications ‘Web Applications’. Then there is still an ASP – Application Service Provider model, were suppliers host normal desktop applications on their servers, because they do not have the online technology needed to create real web applications, this is usually a very expensive way of doing things.
If you don’t get all these benefits, why change your software? Moving business processes forward should not end by putting the same old software online, it should help you to run your small home business better, while at the same time providing easy to use solutions, leaving you free to follow your entrepreneurial vision – then and only then is it really ‘Cloud Computing’.

WinWeb announces today it’s global support for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2008 and Make Your Mark – Enterprise Week 2008 running from November 17th to the 23rd, to foster small business start-ups and the entrepreneurs of the future.
In a “Think Global. Act Local” move the British Make Your Mark campaign did exactly that it went global. It’s objectives are to inspire, connect, mentor and engage young people around the world. Young people from over 75 countries around the world will come together for one week to generate new ideas and seek better ways of doing things.
Carl Schramm, CEO of the Kaufmann Foundation, the second founder of the Global Entrepreneurship Week said:
“The entrepreneurial spirit is an invaluable resource the world must tap to extend the benefits of economic growth to more people across the globe, and address the complex challanges facing us all.”
WinWeb could not agree more, that is why it has decided to support these two campaigns two fold:
Firstly, WinWeb will celebrate 15 years in business with it’s Business’09 campaign starting during Global Entrepreneurship Week/Enterprise Week 2008 and announce the global prize winners during the event in 2009. The main prize money is £10,000 or equivalent in US $ or Euros.
Secondly we will sponsor any business start-up or any business start-up planning exercise with nine (9) months free OnlineOffice access during this years global event week.
Both of these measures are open to anyone world-wide. Stefan Töpfer, CEO of WinWeb remarked: “These two campaigns are so aligned to our goals of fostering a society of economically independent people who are entrepreneurs and socially engaged, that our support for the great work of these campaigns has only just begun.”
Happy ‘entrepreneuring’ everyone!

Web design can be a lucrative business choice if you have the creativity and knowledge required. The majority of businesses will not have the skills in-house to create an outstanding website from nothing. Therefore, if you are able to do it for them then they can hire you and pay for your time. The work you receive can vary from a few hours of simple designing to large undertakings which may require you to work full-time for one employer for some time.

Jason Holden of Holden Associates, one of our Gold Partner Accountants & Business Advisor, refereed to OnlineOffice 5 as the “most powerful version yet”.
Not surprising with over 100 new features it sets new standards in the Small Business Infrastructure market. Jason understands the importance of software as a conduit for real small business services only too well, he advocates not only accounting but helps with small business advice and mentoring services.
