Your New Year Resolution should be to change the way in which your business operates.

2011 was a difficult year for many small businesses. In order to make 2012 run more smoothly here are some tips for operating a business.

Promote your business more You don’t need a large budget to make an impact with your marketing. Online marketing comes in many forms (social media, newsletters, blogging etc.) and none of them cost very much to operate.

Learn new things Industries change very quickly. Firms that do not adopt the latest technology can get left behind, so it is important to remember that business is a learning experience that requires constant updating.

Set some realistic goals Think about what your business could perhaps achieve this year and start thinking about ways to get what you want. Try not to set the bar impossibly high or else you will just end up disappointed.

Drop the baggage If you are spending money or time on something that just isn’t working out, the start of a new year is the perfect time to drop it altogether.
