It is often reported here in the UK that there is a “skills shortage”, meaning that there are not sufficient skilled workers for the economy to prosper. This thinking often means that companies invest thousands of pounds in unnecessary training for their employees to allow them to perform tasks that are outside the remit of their role.
Businesses we have spoken to tell us that they do this, as they believe that it will be cheaper to do so than to find and employ somebody with that specific skill set; but we know that this is not necessarily true. And that these are not the only options.
What if there was a group of highly skilled, experienced, professional people who were looking for employment, on reasonable terms, with reasonable reimbursement requests? Would this save on training and stress levels of those people currently working within your company? My guess would be that the answer to this is “yes”!
But surely no such group exists? We, at WinWeb, know that it does – because we speak to them everyday! These people are the self-employed workforce, or those who don’t think there’s is a job available for them because of their requirements for flexible working. A great example of this group are parents – people who have worked previously, are highly skilled, but are not returning to the workforce due to the lack of flexible positions available to them.
Outsourcing the tasks that your business may have previously trained current staff for, or employed another member of staff to undertake, will not only reduce the stress on your current workforce, but will also save your business considerable money. With no holiday pay to worry about, no need to pay for work when there isn’t any money coming in and complete flexibility, outsourcing is a great way to find people to fill the skills gap within your business.
