WinWeb Pitch of the Week Competition – The Story So Far…

Shout about your business

If you have not yet entered our Pitch of the Week competition, your business is missing a great opportunity to generate some publicity. At WinWeb, we are committed to helping small businesses succeed and our Pitch of the Week competition is just one of the ways in which we try to assist innovative entrepreneurs.

The premise of our competition is simple. All that you have to do is pitch your existing business to us, in the same way that you would to a potential customer. Write your pitch (110 characters minimum) and post it on our Facebook page. Then you must try and get as many of your friends and family as you can to ‘Like’ your pitch. Don’t forget to include a link to your website in your pitch!

If you don’t want to write about your business, it is perfectly fine to submit a YouTube video pitch instead and share the link on our page. We will even put a link to your pitch on our own video website WinWeb TV. The competition runs every week from Wednesday to Wednesday, so don’t panic if you fail to win – just enter again the following week.

The prize that the winner receives is a professionally written blog post all about your business on the Small Business Blog with a link back to your website. The blog has thousands of readers every week, so it is a great way to build awareness of your business and promote the products or service that you offer.

Here is a brief reminder of the businesses that have previously won the competition:

Business Opportunities and Ideas: The first ‘Pitch of the Week’ winner was John Crickett, with his website that focuses on the interests of small and medium businesses. It provides useful advice and information for small business owners plus many inspirational business ideas for those considering a start-up.

Digistar Solutions: Kelvin Thom started Digistar in March 2010. He used his background of metric reports and analysis plus his fifteen years of experience in American business to develop a fantastic Performance Analysis Manager tool.

Sarasvati Arts: Emily Rogers has invented an innovative non-competitive board game known as the “Buddha Wheel”. She also leads art workshops in her local community to encourage creativity and explore Buddhism through art and games.

Lily Waring Intimates: This is an online lingerie store established by Kat Waring, who had always dreamed of running her own business. After much research on products and the market, she finally went live with her online store in 2007.

Direct Sitters: This small business solves the problem we all sometimes face: sacrificing your valuable holiday time to wait for repairmen or deliveries. Marcus Simpson provides short-term house sitters to the London area who will wait for you.

Hire My Parents: Steve Pritchard has built a job portal for parents looking for flexible work, with the majority of positions based from home. His aim is to bring skilled and talented parents back into the workforce pool to benefit the economy.

Environmentally Friendly Solutions: EFS Limited have a unique product that deals with the environmental problem of cigarette waste. The disposable ashstrays were designed by Gordon Shaw and are already proving to be popular at holiday destinations worldwide.

Student Aid: Andy Fidler saw a gap in the market for a business that markets to new students away from home who are often making many purchasing decisions for the first time. His business has gained recognition from numerous trade awards.
