Today is Blog Action Day and we thought we would revisit the story we highlighted a few weeks ago about the sad case of one of our customers, a brain tumour charity, being burgled and stolen from.
The staff of Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire were shocked to discover the damage to their Leeds office upon visiting the burgled office for the first time. Despite having been informed by the police about the break-in, they didn’t expect to see so much devastation.
They lost £150 cash and their laptop was stolen. Thankfully the laptop was quickly recovered by police but the staff were already relieved by the knowledge that all their important files were stored safely in the cloud with the Online Disk app from WinWeb, so even if they had to start again with a new computer system then no digital possessions of value were gone forever and instead would be waiting for them as soon as they got back online.
This sort of protection is invaluable for a micro charity such as BTRS. They employ only two full-time staff and a part-time associate dealing offering support to brain tumour patients, their families and carers across the Yorkshire and Humber region so it is essential to them to have a backup solution that simply works. Nothing must get in the way of their hard-working brain tumour fighters.
BTRS co-funds Yorkshire’s only brain tumour research lab, one of only a handful across the UK. They work with over 500 people a year who rely on them to provide the information, advice and guidance they need when faced with a disease that is the biggest cancer killer of the under 40’s and young people.
On this Blog Action Day we would like to ask our readers to help raise awareness of brain tumours and consider whether they can volunteer to help their local charity in some way.
